Spyro is the Director of TGen's Cancer Drug Development Laboratory, and heads TGen's high throughput screening center in Scottsdale AZ, where his group has established infrastructure for genome wide RNAi phenotype profiling in human cancer cells. This group has conducted pioneering work on the application of HT RNAi to drug discovery and pharmacogenomics.

Spyro has held positions at the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes for Health (NIH) including that of Senior Research Fellow and Staff Scientist. Spyro obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and completed post-doctoral training at the NIH’s National Human Genome Research Institute.

Spyro is inventor on multiple patents, author of more than 30 published papers, abstracts, reviews and chapters. Spyro is widely considered one of the leading scientists in the application of molecular genetics to cancer drug development.
